The Uniting Church is the largest non-government provider of community services in Australia.
In WA we have four agencies belonging to the national UnitingCare network: Good Samaritan Industries (GSI or Good Sammy’s), UnitingCare Crossroads WA, UnitingCare West and Uniting Church Homes.
Together with our smaller congregation-based projects, these agencies seek to be the hands and face of Jesus to those most in need.
50 years ago, Good Samaritan Industries (GSI) began with a dream: employment opportunities for people with disabilities. From its first employee, Bernice Moorhouse, and its first shop located in the Methodist Central Mission, GSI now has 429 staff and provided assistance to another 433 people with a disability in the 2007/08 financial year.
It is that time of the year again when UnitingCare West are launching their Winter Appeal for 2008. Go to www.unitingcarewest.org.au to donate.
